Resolved: Access denied Error SQL Server Master data services website

This is a resolution to the error " Access Denied" when you install SQL Server Master data services and try to browse the website. Few things I would like to discuss in order to resolve this error:

1- When you install Master Data Services using SQL Server installation media, during the installation you have a choice to add users to have access (Admin) on Master data services Roles, however if you forget to add anyone and complete installation, you will not have access to the Master Data Services Website Roles thus get an error " Access denied " when you browse the newly created website.

2- Only the person(User) who installed and created the website will be able to browse the contents. Once that particular user browse the contents, you get Master Data Services Website Page look like shown in Fig 2.0.

Resolution:

1- Click on User and Group Permissions

2- Click on Add (+) button. You have an option to add Groups as well, you need to click on Group instead of users in that case.

3- Provide the user name and verify with Active directory, once verified click ok
